Edge wrapping tape for solar panels

Once all of the individual layer have been combined the PVB layer within the solar panel needs to be heat sealed under vacuum. This process permanently "locks" the solar cells /contact strips and the covering glass layer components together. To assist in this process, several solar panel manufacturers have favoured the used of an edge wrapping tape. This tape is applied all around the edges of the panels and effectively ensures that non of the individual layers can slip / move during the process.
