Laminated tapes

The PPI laminates address a significant protective function as cover tapes in plasma spraying applications. Glasscloth cover tape with as many as three layers can withstand extreme temperatures for a precisely defined time period and high mechanical tension by HVOF (high velocity oxygen flame) spraying. Lamination based on the use of metal materials can be applied for additional increasing of the "thermal barrier".

Manufacturers of coils and transformers use shielding laminates for the two following main areas as follows: electromagnetic/ electrostatic shielding and replacing of copper wires in primary and secondary windings. In comparison with wire conductors copper based laminates provide the advantage of greater surface area while preserving the same cross-section. Because the most of the current flowing through wire is concentrated near the surface with restrictions applying following the rise of frequencies (the so-called skin effect), this has resulted in significant increase of laminated foil tapes use in production of high frequency transformers. In addition to this, the PPI laminates comply with the stringent UL standards applying to the electro-engineering industry.
