Die-cutting capabilities
Possibilities to cut sizes according to customer specification
Maximum Dimension of a Die-Cut Piece: 240 mm (width) x 380 mm (length)
Minimum Thickness: Obviously this is dependant on the "handle-ability" of a product but 0.012 mm polyester film has been processed without difficulty.
Maximum Thickness (cut to date): Polyester Film : 0.250 mm Aluminium Foil : 0.300 mm Copper Foil : 0.150 mm
During the die-cutting of a thick product (i.e. + 0.100 mm) a characteristic curvature can occur. This can be particularly noticeable with a metal foil product.

Minimum Distance between Two Cutting Blades on Die: 1.5 mm - This distance equates to the minimum distance between any two die-cut areas.
Minimum Diameter of Circular Shapes: Hole through a part: 1.5 mm Dots: 3.0 mm
Typical Tolerances: We quote a standard tolerance for our die-cut pieces of: +/- 0.2 mm. However it is important to note that in many cases we can achieve a tolerance value better than this. Since each die-cut piece is individual then we can give very accurate tolerance values once the piece has been die-cut and evaluated.
90° Angles: Due to the method of die-cutting tool manufacture, where die-cutting lines meet, it is impossible to achieve an exact 90o angle. A type of "radius angle" will always be produced.
Soldering Window: We recommend the following minimum sizes for solder window: Circle: 4 mm diameter Rectangle: 3.5 mm X 5.0 mm
Minimum Outer Margin Dimension: e.g. Copper foil 0.035 mm + polyester film 0.025 mm: 0.5 mm For other foil/ film combinations the margin would have to be increased.
Forms of Die-Cut Pieces: - Butt-Cut: a continuous line of rectangular/ square die-cut pieces with no spacing between the pieces supplied on an interliner - Individual Die-Cut Shapes on a Roll: a line of individually separated die-cut shapes supplied on an interliner in roll form - Chopped Pieces: die-cut pieces supplied individually not in roll form, (e.g. A4 sheet)
Maximum Width of Printing: 236 mm
Maximum Print Repeat Length: 300 mm
Scored Interliner: Where individual pieces are supplied on an interliner, the interliner can be scored. This allows partial removal of the interliner to expose the die-cut piece. This will facilitate the easy removal of the die-cut piece.
